Established in 1967, the Lower South Coast SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is a registered non-profit organisation (NPO 002-114) and the society relies on the support of concerned individuals and businesses to continue operating.
Over the past 51 years we have passionately carried out our mission to prevent cruelty to animals. This is done through education, law enforcement and veterinary care services for those that cannot afford them.
Our area of operation is vast and covers the whole of the Lower South Coast of KZN. In the past year alone (March 2018 – March 2019) the society received 3579 Cats and Dogs of which we had to humanely euthanize 2536 unwanted and unclaimed stray Animals. However, we also sterilized over 2160 animals in an attempt to reduce the region’s animal over-population problem. By providing primary veterinary care, we not only helped thousands of individual animals, but also improved the health of their human families by reducing the spread of Zoonotic diseases such as Rabies, Mange (human scabies), TB and Worms just to name a few.
The Lower South Coast SPCA operates 7 days a week, 365 Days a year.
